AI/ML Engineer - OpenAI Integration Specialist

(3-week contract)

Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (3 weeks)
Start Date: Week 5 of project
Location: Remote
Commitment: Part-time (2-3 days/week)

We're looking for an AI/ML Engineer to work with us on an MVP for a new marketplace, implementing intelligent matching using OpenAI's latest models.

You'll be building a system that understands natural language requirements and matches them with data points using semantic search and intelligent ranking.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Integrate OpenAI embeddings API for semantic search
  • Implement vector similarity search in MongoDB
  • Build intelligent ranking algorithms using GPT-4
  • Create prompt engineering for match explanations
  • Optimize API usage for cost efficiency
  • Implement caching strategies for common queries
  • Build fallback systems for API failures
  • Create feedback loops for continuous improvement
  • Document AI system architecture

Essential Requirements

  • Strong experience with OpenAI APIs (GPT-4, Embeddings)
  • Vector database experience
  • Prompt engineering expertise
  • Python or Node.js proficiency
  • Understanding of semantic search
  • API optimization and caching strategies
  • Experience with production AI systems

Nice to Have

  • Marketplace matching algorithm experience
  • RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) experience
  • Experience with Anthropic, Cohere, or other LLMs
  • ML model fine-tuning experience
  • Cost optimization strategies
  • A/B testing for AI systems
