MongoDB Specialist
(6-week contract)
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (6 weeks)
Start Date: Week 3 of project
Location: Remote
Commitment: Part-time (2-3 days/week)
We are looking for a MongoDB expert to design and optimise the database architecture for a new marketplace.
You'll be working with complex data relationships, implementing vector search for AI matching, and ensuring the platform can scale from hundreds to millions of users.
What You Will Be Doing
- Design optimal schema for marketplace data model
- Implement aggregation pipelines for complex queries
- Set up MongoDB Atlas with proper indexing strategy
- Configure vector search for AI-powered matching
- Optimise query performance
- Implement data migration strategies
- Set up backup and recovery procedures
- Create monitoring and alerting systems
- Knowledge transfer to development team
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years MongoDB experience
- MongoDB Atlas expertise
- Experience with marketplace or e-commerce schemas
- Aggregation pipeline mastery
- Index optimisation skills
- Experience with high-traffic applications
- Understanding of vector databases
- DevOps/monitoring experience
Nice to Have
- MongoDB certification
- Experience with AI/ML data structures
- Previous marketplace platform work
- Real-time sync experience
- Elasticsearch/Algolia integration
- Performance tuning at scale
