Node.js Backend Developer

(10-week contract)

Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (10 weeks)
Start Date: Immediate
Location: Remote (UK/EU timezone)
Commitment: Full-time (5 days/week)

Join us in building a revolutionary marketplace with AI-powered matching, automated payments, and smart contracts. You'll be creating the backend infrastructure that will handle thousands of data points, processing secure payments through Stripe Connect, and integrating with AI services.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Design and build RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express
  • Implement MongoDB database schemas and queries
  • Integrate Stripe Connect for marketplace payments
  • Build messaging and notification systems
  • Implement authentication and authorization (JWT)
  • Create booking and transaction management logic
  • Optimise for performance and scalability
  • Write comprehensive tests and documentation

Essential Requirements

  • 4+ years Node.js experience
  • Strong MongoDB experience (aggregation pipelines a plus)
  • Payment gateway integration experience (Stripe preferred)
  • RESTful API design expertise
  • Authentication/authorisation implementation
  • Redis caching experience
  • Automated testing experience
  • Available for immediate start
  • Good communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Stripe Connect specific experience
  • Marketplace or e-commerce platform experience
  • OpenAI API or similar AI service integration
  • Message queue experience (Bull/RabbitMQ)
  • Google Cloud Platform experience
  • TypeScript experience
