Senior React/Next.js Developer

(10-week contract)

Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (10 weeks)
Start Date: Immediate
Location: Remote (UK timezone preferred)
Commitment: Full-time (5 days/week)

We're building an innovative AI-powered marketplace platform. This greenfield project will revolutionise a sector, using cutting-edge AI matching technology and seamless payment processing.

You'll be working directly with our Fractional CTO and a small, senior team to deliver an MVP in 10 weeks for a funded startup with massive growth potential.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead frontend development using Next.js 14 (App Router) and TypeScript
  • Build responsive, performant marketplace interfaces
  • Implement real-time search with AI-powered results
  • Create complex booking flows and payment integrations
  • Develop admin dashboards and analytics interfaces
  • Ensure excellent UX across desktop and mobile
  • Collaborate on API design with backend developer
  • Implement SEO best practices for marketplace visibility

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years React experience, 2+ years with Next.js
  • Strong TypeScript skills
  • Experience building marketplace or e-commerce platforms
  • Expertise in modern CSS (Tailwind preferred)
  • API integration experience (REST and GraphQL)
  • Understanding of SEO and performance optimization
  • Git workflow and code review experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Available to start within 1 week

Nice to Have

  • Previous contractor/freelance experience
  • Stripe integration experience
  • React Query or SWR experience
  • Marketplace/two-sided platform experience
  • Experience with Vercel deployment
  • UI/UX sensibility
